Smart Junction Box — Reconditioned

S197 Mustangs have a well-known cowl-leak problem — rainwater finds its way into the cabin and runs straight onto the SJB sitting behind the kick panel. Corrosion on this module shows up as random electrical gremlins: dead interior lights, flaky locks, no-crank, ghost warnings. Each unit I sell has been opened, cleaned, repaired at the board level if needed, and tested.

Instrument Cluster — 6-Gauge Premium

The 6-gauge cluster was a premium option on S197 Mustangs — adds oil pressure and battery voltage gauges flanking the speedometer and tach, where the base 4-gauge cluster has blanks. Sourced clean, tested, and configured to match your VIN and mileage so it drops in without a trip to the dealer.

Note

Inventory rotates. If you don't see what you need — or you want a specific Ford part number sourced and reconditioned — get in touch. I work on more modules than are listed here, and I can often pull from incoming stock before it gets posted.

Process

How a reconditioned module gets to you

Reconditioned doesn't mean "wiped clean and resold." Every module that goes out is treated as a diagnostic project on its own — same approach I take with a customer's vehicle on the bench.

STEP 01

Inspect & document

Cores get logged, photographed, and inspected for corrosion, cracked housings, bent pins, and prior board-level repairs. Anything beyond saving gets scrapped instead of resold.

STEP 02

Clean & repair

Boards come out for ultrasonic cleaning to pull out salt and acid residue from cabin leaks. Damaged solder joints, vias, and traces get repaired. Connectors get inspected pin-by-pin.

STEP 03

Bench test & ship

Every unit gets power applied, rails verified, and module comms confirmed on a bench harness before it ships. A short test report goes in the box so you know exactly what was done.
